/Murnau's Nosferatu, 1922, with a new score built from my own catalogue and every title card newly written. Twenty-three complete works in twenty-four cues, written between 1999 and 2026, most of them recorded live. Every one plays first note to last. Nothing is cut and nothing is looped. The picture was trimmed to fit the music, not the other way round.
What it isn't. This is not a restoration, and you should know that before you pay for it. The picture comes from the 1947 Museum of Modern Art lineage, which is the copy that kept this film alive and also the copy that never carried Murnau's colour tinting. So it's black and white, and Orlok walks about in a daylight that was meant to be night. The source is 640 by 480 and it is soft. I've set it inside a 1920 by 1080 frame at its own proportion, nothing cropped, with dark margins either side. If you want the tinted restoration, it exists, it's beautiful, and it's somebody else's property. This one is mine to give you, and the music and the cards are the reason to have it.
What comes with it. The film as one file. 1920 by 1080, 78 minutes, stereo, 4.6 GB. Stream it here or download it and keep it. Yours once, with no subscription and no expiry. The companion book is a separate download, free for subscribers, and the link to it is on the home page.
Hear it first. The whole film is on YouTube, free. Watch it there. If you'd rather own a copy at full quality with nothing between you and it, that's what this is.
Under the music there is rain over the opening cards, water in six passages at sea, and a sound-design piece of mine from 2009 called The Key, three times so faintly you may not place it and once, over the credits, properly. Everywhere else the music is alone. At 72:27 there are five and three quarter seconds of nothing at all, and it's the only silence in the film I put there on purpose.
